The Good: Good physics, challenging, responsive controls
The Bad: Way too simple, boring to look at, no save feature, extremely short
Ever since Trials took the side scrolling motocross genre by storm there have been many knock offs with some good and some not. Moto X Mayhem is very simple, and not very exciting, but can be fun for the short little while it lasts (about 30 minutes). There are 4 stages with increasing difficulty and each stage is about 15-25 seconds long. You accelerate and brake and have to tilt the rider to adjust to cliffs and jumps. The game is very fun and the controls are responsive, but the game is just so simple and short that you barely feel like it’s a game at all. The courses have difficulty ranges, but there isn’t much of a difference between them, but each stage and level is varied with different jumps, cliffs, and it all feels random for some challenge. My biggest gripe is that you have to complete an entire stage or you lose all progress if you quit. That, to me, is very annoying.
The visuals are 2D and very simple, and all you hear is the sputtering of the engine. The physics are pretty good, but overall you will wish there was more here both gameplay wise and visually. For a buck, you get your money’s worth with 30 minutes of great fun, but beyond that, you will forget all about this.
